Review: “Marvel Heroic Roleplaying”

March 5, 2012 by Wyatt Salazar

Marvel Heroic Roleplaying is a narrative game with a superficially simple dice pool mechanic. The gameplay choices brought on by the pools and their interactions can go quite a bit deeper than is immediately obvious. However, It took me a while to get the hang of it. The first few chapters lay out the dice system and all the trappings, but on a first read, you might find yourself bombarded with terminology.

The Architect DM: Seven Wonders of Your World

February 15, 2012 by Bartoneus

Whenever I get a chance I make a pointed effort to read about or look at a map of other DM’s and GM’s roleplaying game worlds. I find it fascinating to look at them both objectively and subjectively, to see things that I may never have come up with or elements that are similar to things in the worlds I’ve created. Over the last few years, I’ve noticed a handful of elements that pop up in the majority of people’s fantasy game worlds and these elements have been some of the inspiration for earlier world building posts in my Architect DM posts.

DDXP 2012: “Charting the Course: An Edition for All Editions” and “New Products” Seminars

January 30, 2012 by Dave

This past weekend was DDXP, and since this the new edition of D&D was announced recently, this was both the first chance the public would both find out directly from the mouths of the people making the game what it would be like, as well as try a limited demo of the new game. Like in 2008, questions about the new game were answered, and new ones were created. And just like back then, we were on the scene to report on the goings on to try to bring you a taste of the information available if you couldn’t be there.
