Yes, Chatty plays Magic the Gathering sometimes… he even blogs about it sometimes. Today he discusses a Legacy Artifact deck he built for his son, who brags that it is unbeatable. Oh to be 10 again.
DDXP 2012 Recap: Running the New D&D and Playing Games
This year’s DDXP was a very interesting one, as I suspected. We were actually able to get there, unlike last year, though Fort Wayne’s weather seems persistant in its attempts to keep us out. In order to help finance the trip, and because I was one of the few who had an early look at the new D&D, I volunteered to DM seven four-hour slots of the new game to eager players. While I only ended up running four games of it (mostly because I was too tired to do any more than that), I had a blast and felt good about the games that I ran.
30 For 30
I played 30 games for the occasion of turning 30. Here they all are.
2011 Origins Report
Another Origins has come and gone, and as always, there were plenty of games. Here are a few that stood out, both old and new.
Boardgaming Resurgence
Just over a year ago our group of friends was heavily into the deck building game Dominion. It was relatively new but had been out long enough to have three quick expansions and we really couldn’t get enough of it. Some days we would play game after game for hours on end. As should be expected, we eventually burned out from that pace. Thankfully, over the last two months I have noticed an extreme increase in the amount of board games that my friends and I have been playing and I want to share a few of the stand out games we’ve been enjoying.
Chatty’s PaxEast Highlights: 3 days of Fun Among Friends
In which Chatty miraculously fits his highlights of a spectacular convention in only one 1500 words post. A record some will say!
Rise of the Eldrazi Preview
The newest expansion set for Magic: The Gathering is going to be released in a few days and for those of you who play the game I wanted to share some of the information and spoiler cards that WotC has released. The set is called Rise of the Eldrazi, and is the third set of the Zendikar block and looks like it comes with some new rules and mechanics that set it apart from everything else that’s out there right now.
Inq. of the Week: Gotta Mutate ‘Em All
While reports leaked out ahead of time, it was the D&D Experience convention where a full announcement was made about a new edition of the Gamma World RPG, based on the 4e D&D rules. During the announcement came one major surprise: they would make random “booster packs” available to supplement the mutations that happen in the radiation soaked Gamma World and the ancient technology that waits to be discovered.
Preview: Magic the Gathering – Planechase
While at GenCon this year I got to sit down and play a preview game of the new Magic the Gathering variation called Planechase that Wizards of the Coast is releasing September 4th. Like MtG except there is always one plane in play that drastically changes one or more aspects of the game.
Magic Online III Beta.
I’m too tired to write a post tonight so I’m sharing a little Magic the Gathering goodness to those who would like to play for free (I think you need to have a Magic Online 2,5 account though). Magic Online players, We’re hoping that you, along with thousands of other MOL players across the globe […]
