Playing my typical day-to-day as a game didn’t feel like much fun. But, I thought, if I made Hope is Not a Plan a Dungeonomics story, maybe something darkly funny would emerge.
The Godless Lands: The Troupe
Once we’d established the foundation of the Setting in which we’d play, we proceeded to create the party. True to the principles of Cheetoism, we gathered together, ordered food and discussed the character’s recent past to establish the adventuring party’s Raisons d’Etre.
The Godless Lands: Genesis
As we settled on the core setting, the ideas of playing in a world were all the gods were violently snuffed more or less recently still churned in my mind. I decided that this was a theme I wanted to explore.
5TDM: 5th Edition Team Deathmatch
Back on Sunday, November 18th we participated in a streamed match of 5th Edition Team Deathmatch, our team was up against the excellent team from Cheaper by the Dungeon and it was an incredibly fun evening of killing, joking, and telefragging (oh…so much telefragging.)
The Ring Of Rumours: A Cursed Item Story
And from that point on, I decided that the ring had a low level curse on it. Where people interacting with the characters somehow knew something about an expensive ring.
The Great Dungeon #3 – Super Dungeon Land
Airships, enemy turtles, and some familiar-looking plumbers invade The Great Dungeon.
The Great Dungeon #2 – Storefronts, Slug Love, and Metamatter
Miners, metamatter, and more collide in the latest installment of The Great Dungeon.
The Great Dungeon #1 – Dungeoneers
The following is part adventure recap, part DM strategy session, and part after action report. I’m approaching this edition of D&D with game design/writing credits and a love for story and indy-game approaches. Ultimately, I want The Great Dungeon series to be informative to the reader, but also provide a method to refine the approach to my own DMing.
UbiDungeon World: The Elven Tower.
Find the ruined temple where the cult of Nam-Shub sits on one of the world’s last stockpile of pure Thaumium rods… and TAKE IT!
Chatty’s 13th Age: The Lich King’s Curse and Reactive Bosses
What if a character granted the curse of the Lich King could no longer die? And what if a monster had powers that triggered on the players’ rolls or special attacks?
