BattleStar Galactica- Season 1

March 2, 2006 by spankleberry

Fiending for my sci-fi junk, I shot up this remake of a childhood favorite. Granted it IS better than the original, but not so much so I’d recommend you running out and purchasing one of your own, even from a secondhand store such as I did. There are certainly moments of interest: the Armatage III-esque […]

Magnatune: They Are Not Evil

February 24, 2006 by DarthCthulhu

I discovered an interesting little site recently called Magnatune. It’s a place where you can buy (legally!) music online. As is typical with these types of sites, you can listen to a streamed version of the music you’re considering buying before actually plunking down any money.

Jimmy Corrigan- the Smartest Kid on Earth

February 18, 2006 by spankleberry

I had read this before, but I wanted to read it again, and gee, didn’t I deserve a treat for finishing my schoolwork ahead of time? yes I did.

Penny Arcade: Attack of the Bacon Robots

January 27, 2006 by Bartoneus

At one point, I may or may not have philosophized that a truly blessed world was one in which a printed collection of Penny Arcade existed. Within this fictional universe, cults of idolaters worshipping the almighty Wang roamed the streets preaching their massive growth potential, while children who played violent videogames were no longer judged […]

Katamari Damacy: The Movie?

January 23, 2006 by Bartoneus

Close on the heels of such classics as Super Mario Bros. the movie, Mortal Kombat, and Tomb Raider are the next generation of Video game movie adaptations. It has always been a shady business, that of bringing gamers’ favorite characters and playthings to the live action film screen, but is Hollywood getting better at it?

King Kong Sings Songs, Jack Black Acts

December 19, 2005 by Dave

This weekend I saw Peter Jackson’s Epic, err, his STAND-ALONE epic, King Kong. If you’ve seen the original, or even The Simpsons parody, you’re not really going to be surprised by any part of the story (and so I’m going to go ahead and say there be spoilers ahead) but it’s well worth watching nonetheless.

Chronicles of Narnia

December 12, 2005 by Bartoneus

It is an unfortunate circumstance that the new movie ‘ The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe’ was immediately taken in by many people as very much the same type of movie as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This comparison went perhaps as deep for most people as the fact that it was released […]

Game Review: Zendo

November 16, 2005 by Bartoneus

As was mentioned previously, I know quite a few game designers that seek to enrich and over-analyze the gaming lives of those around them. One of these game designers has managed to create and successfully market one of the best games I’ve ever played, that game is Zendo.
