Movie Review: Cloverfield

January 19, 2008 by Bartoneus

Possibly the best way to start this review is to say: go see this movie. Cloverfield is produced by J.J. Abrams of Lost and Alias fame, and also the director of the upcoming new Star Trek movie. The inspiration for Cloverfield is that America has never really had an equivalent to a Godzilla-style story; Abrams […]

TV's Terminator Review

January 15, 2008 by DarthCthulhu

I was all set to hate this show. I didn’t think it was going to work in any way, shape, or form. I was surprised. And, most importantly, I was entertained. There was some surprisingly good writing in the show (as well as some really stupid plot holes).

Assassin's Creed: Video Let-Down

January 11, 2008 by guest

You hear about them, you see commercials and advertisements about them for months, their release dates are marked on calendars across the globe, and the keywords are getting thousands of hits daily on search engines everywhere…. Maybe you’re first in line on release day, maybe you wait it out and hear good things so you […]

Review: Freezepop "Future Future Future Perfect"

January 8, 2008 by Dave

Freezepop isn’t a household band name, but gamers have a greater chance of recognizing their brand of catchy synthpop. The band has contributed songs to a few video games (most notably for bonus tracks in Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2, and Rock Band– one of the members of the band works for Harmonix.) They also […]

Game Review: Covert Action

January 2, 2008 by Bartoneus

If you’ve never played the party game Werewolf (read Dave’s account of a Werewolf game) or Mafia, then the card game Covert Action will be something entirely new to you.  This may not be a good thing, because it is clearly inspired by these classics and players benefit from an understand of how this type of game […]

Review: I Am Legend

December 28, 2007 by Bartoneus

Even though I Am Legend came out in theaters two weeks ago on December 14th, many people have not seen it yet possibly because of the mixed reviews it has recieved.  Ever since we saw the first teaser that gave no indication of anything other than Will Smith being alone in the city, my wife […]

Rock Band First Impressions: The Good, the Bad, and the Clash

November 30, 2007 by Dave

After sending DrScotto questing all around Maryland in search of Rock Band last Sunday, he arrived with the large box in tow and laid it at our feet to dig through many boxes, baggies, and instructions. Him, The O, my little brother, and myself rocked out for a few hours that night, each taking a […]

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

November 12, 2007 by guest

You’ve been camped in the tall grass for half the game, waiting patiently. Suddenly in the distance you see a lone figure kneeling behind a crate exchanging fire with an unknown target. You raise your rifle scope to your eye and zero in on your target. He’s stopped firing and appears to be holding his […]

Messiah CompleX: Not Quite the Second Coming (Non-Spoiler)

October 31, 2007 by The Main Event

General: When Jesus was born, there were wise kings, gifts, angelic visits, and immaculate conceptions. When the X-Office at Marvel kicked off its brand new crossover Messiah CompleX, they hired old artist Marc Silvestri , released tons of interviews with major comic book industry entities, discussed tidbits about the X-Men status quo after the event, […]

First Impressions: Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox 360)

October 29, 2007 by Dave

I strolled right into my local GameStop yesterday and picked up Guitar Hero 3 (game only) for the Xbox 360. (Also grabbed the Orange Box, but resisted Halo 3 for now.) Using my trusty band THAC0, I’d estimate I’ve played through about half of the game on Medium, maybe a little more. I still don’t […]
