X-mas in June: D&D 4e is out!

June 6, 2008 by The Chatty DM

It’s 5h45 AM and I can’t wait for Pierre-Luc (of ZeStuff) to open the doors to his Warehouse Store at 10h00 am so I can pick up my D&D 4e hardcovers.

I know most of you have seen it, but Scott Rouse of WotC has made you all a series of notes allowing you to ditch work/school/chores so you could get your books and start playing right freaking now.

Tonight my whole gaming crew will be there to try out the game.  I’m going to play the Game Day adventure and add a Warlord or Warlock to the lineup of characters.  Hopefully we get to play it all and I get to break out my Silver Dragon mini to stage the ‘Against the White Dragon’ adventure.

So for those who are buying the books, how are you going to spend your day?  Admit it, none  of you are going to be working very hard now are you (That’s why I’m up so early, so I can get work done before diving in the books).

Here’s to a new era of D&D.  I hope it’s as fun and as interesting as prior editions were and totally free of .5!

    Happy 4e Day!

Alas, I must wait for Amazon.com to ship my set of core books. I must remain strong through the weekend, and hopefully will get my books early next week.

Enjoy Game Day and may your dragon shine on the table as you bloody up those PC’s.

And now I wait 4 weeks for Amazon to actually ship the things. Sigh….at least I saved some money,..right?

I have a full week of 4E gaming coming up. Saturday I am a player in the Worldwide Game Day adventure. Then Sunday the local meetup is getting together and I am running “Keep on the Shadowfell”. I can’t wait!

@DNAPhil and jeefx: Amazon is pretty speedy IIRC in Canada, I can get books 48 hours after I click on ‘place order’.

@all: Of course I’ll be writing about my DMing 4e tonight and tomorrow as soon as I can sit down.

It’s always a bit surreal when a day I’ve been waiting for finally arrives. I too am waiting on Amazon, but I’ll probably pick up an extra Player’s Handbook at my FLGS for my wife. (Not that she’ll be able to read it any time soon. 🙂 )

    Yea for 4E!

    “totally free of .5!”

Yeah, I got my shipping confirmation from Amazon last night. Still won’t be here until Monday, though 🙁

Hope you all have a good weekend reading and playing. I’ll be running around doing yard work, weather permitting.

You wanted the Gnome T-shirt, eh?

I don’t pick up my personal copy of the books until tomorrow morning. I know when I go online today people will probably message me about how awesome they are…

Assuming B&N doesn’t do something screwy, I’ll be picking up my preordered gift set on the way home and spending the evening poring over them and writing about them for Gnome Stew.

    Cannot. Freaking. Wait.

@Dave: You mean, like I’M doing right now on Gtalk? 🙂

@Martin: Looking forward to it. I’ll also do mine here.
