Why A New Name Generator?
I was blown away by the work of Samuel Stoddard on the Rinkworks Fantasy Name Generator. As I came to use it more often, though, I began to desire new and improved features. After attempting to contact Samuel and receiving no response, I decided to just make my own… it’s been quite fun!
This generator automatically filters out character triplets (i.e. 3+ of the same character in a row.) It’s limited to only producing strings with two of the same character in a row.
My wishlist for this new name generator included:
- the ability to edit sections and separating punctuation independently (for ease of use)
- the ability to show more or less results
- a tool that automatically filtered out duplicate results. This is the big one: this tool filters out duplicate results and attempts to get as close as possible to the desired # of results without duplicating.
