The Circle Of Laugh

June 19, 2012 by Vanir

A perfect night of D&D for me is one where either a lot of plot and adventure happened, or none happened and lots of roleplaying happened instead. Either way, there is usually some component of us laughing our entire butts off at least once during the session. Like, they have to be reattached. I’m usually the class clown at the table when I play. How odd, then, that I’m not behind the screen…..

Funny Pants of Omnipotence: The Metaphor Overstays Its Welcome

April 12, 2011 by Vanir

After last week’s existential crisis, I take a look at some of the difficulties I face in coming up with the right plot framework for my campaign, and realize for the 74,343rd time that I have difficulties being serious.

One-Hour Game Design

November 18, 2010 by Chris Sims

A year ago, I went to Nanocon and made friends with the illustrious Richard Dansky. On Friday evening, we were a between commitments, and we were amused at the Dakota State University game design program’s promotional literature. We also stumbled on some loose dice and game pieces. We decided to make a game . . .

Orgrimmar Politics As Usual

November 2, 2010 by Vanir

It’s the end of a brutal election season, and the race for key positions in the Horde have never been closer. No one could have expected Thrall to step down from his position as Warchief, but it was no surprise to anyone just how heated the battle to ensue would become. Hit the jump for expanded election coverage!

In Defense of Funny

August 17, 2010 by Vanir

I hear a lot of people talk about how they don’t care for humor in their D&D campaigns. That’s my favorite part! Find out a couple ways to introduce some levity into your game without annoying the crap out of everyone else. Or just annoy the crap out of everyone else. I don’t care. It’s not MY game.

3:16 Carnage Among Friends: Part 1, Sarge’s Review

June 15, 2010 by The Chatty DM

3:16 is a rules-light, hyper-focused, indie-as-hell roleplaying game. All players are space marines fighting in the 16th battalion of the 3rd army. Their sole mission in life? Drop on planets with scores of other troopers and officer and kill absolutely all life in the name of protecting the Terran home world.

My Love Affair With Tron

March 24, 2010 by Bartoneus

I grew up with the movie Tron. Okay, I’ll admit that I grew up with a lot of movies, but there is a shorter list of movies that I watched at least once a year for my entire life up to the age of 18. Tron is most certainly on that list, along with Aliens, […]

Last week, my good friend Dave of Critical Hits and RPGblogger’s Network fame asked me to write a little note for his girlfriend’s (‘e’ of Geeks’ Dream Girl) birthday. Being overly Chatty and prone to a certain dose of creative crazyness, I decided to all out geek and delivered the following Birthday Challenge! Wish Her […]

Exclusive Preview: “Real Ultimate Power” Sourcebook

February 6, 2009 by Dave

Our sources have uncovered pages from an upcoming supplement designed to change 4e forever. This sourcebook details the users of the Real Ultimate power source. The iconic user of this power source is the Ninja of course, but we have also found that the book will include options for your Pirate and Cowboy characters that also draw on, in the words of the book, “the essence of totally sweet awesomeness.”
