Review – Tron: Legacy

December 18, 2010 by Bartoneus

I am a particular brand of Tron fanboy because the movie came out the year before I was born and I wouldn’t really understand much about computers or programming until many years after I had the movie decently memorized. I’ve loved the original movie for pretty much my entire life, even writing about my love affair with the movie and how I can use it to know if I’ll really like someone right away. It should be no surprise that I went to see Tron: Legacy on the day of its release, but I am a bit surprised that we decided to see it in 3d and that it turned out to be a good decision.

Movies I Want to See in 2011

December 16, 2010 by Bartoneus

Something you may not know about me if you come to Critical Hits mainly for the RPG content is that I’m a huge movie nerd. In April of this year I posted a look ahead at the big summer movies of 2010 that I was hoping to see, just as I have done for the last four years running. This year is a bit different from the last few because I am already excited to see a ton of movies in 2011 and we’re not even through December yet! Here’s a look at the movies of early 2011 that I’m most excited to see, and a quick description of why I’m excited about it:

Inq. of the Week: Prizes and Treasures?

April 27, 2010 by Bartoneus

This week we are not posting a new poll as part of the Inquisition, instead we are looking to solve a very terrible problem which Dave and I now have. You see…we simply have too much stuff that we want to give away on this fancy-schmancy website and we aren’t entirely sure how to do it!

So Long and Thanks for all the Fish!

January 22, 2010 by The Chatty DM

(No I’m not retiring from RPG blogging, no worries) As I stand here by the seaside of Florida, I reflect on the upcoming blog merge with Critical Hits, planned to happen sometime during Sunday Jan 24th. Not so much because I’m having second thoughts about merging with Critical Hits and play the role of Prima […]

Retro Critical Hits

November 9, 2009 by Bartoneus

Greetings everyone, Danny (aka Bartoneus) here! You may have noticed that late last week and over the weekend Critical Hits was in “Retro” mode and now that our layout is back a lot of things are still messed up. A lot of the problems stem from a completely honest and understandable accident, but the end result is hopefully a better framework for the site. Unfortunately the last full backup we had was in May of this year, so we’ll be working through today and tomorrow to get all of the missing images back up and hopefully have everything back to normal soon!

Inq. of the Week: Tell Us Your Critical Hit Story

September 29, 2009 by Dave

We’re coming up on our 4th anniversary this week (expect our usual yearly wrap-up this Thursday), and this year, we thought we’d do something fun. At gaming conventions this year, we asked our interview subjects about their favorite critical hit story (from any game.) We got some great responses, and will be typing those up this week, but we’d like to open the floor to you!

D&D Miniatures 2.0 Rules Released

January 17, 2008 by Dave

Wizards posted them yesterday. Many were hoping that this would preview a lot of 4E combat changes, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Nonetheless, there were a few changes that stood out to me from the previous version of the DDM rules: No more morale! Previously, a big part of the game was […]
