Origins 2010: Final Round-Up

July 1, 2010 by Dave

Origins has once again come and gone. Due to various scheduling mishaps with the convention and technical problems, we didn’t get to do much in the way of scheduled gaming, and spend our time looking for things to do. Here’s just a sample of some of the stuff that we did do and I was excited about in the convention.

Origins 2010: “Game Design is Mind Control” Seminar

June 29, 2010 by Dave

During Origins 2010, I dropped by a packed seminar run by Luke Crane and Jared Sorensen. Luke Crane is the designer of Burning Wheel and Mouse Guard RPGs, of which we (mainly ChattyDM) have spoken of on many occasions. Jared Sorensen is the game designer behind a number of games including Action Castle and the […]

Review: “Dragon Age: Awakening”

June 1, 2010 by Vanir

Though the Archdemon lies defeated, the darkspawn are still loitering all over Amaranthine. Like TEENAGERS. Do you have the courage to remove them from your lawn?

Starcraft 2 is Finally Coming Out

May 20, 2010 by Bartoneus

Considering how much I’ve written about Starcraft and Starcraft 2 in the past, it should be a little bit surprising that I haven’t brought it up in the last few months since the official release date has been announced (7/27/10) and the beta has been ongoing since February. Well, honestly I haven’t written about it lately because I’ve been in the beta since early March and have been having the time of my life with it.

Review: “Mega Man 10”

May 19, 2010 by Vanir

Though generally well-received, many considered Mega Man 9 to be too difficult and frustrating. A year and a lot of customer feedback later, the next installment in the series aims to bring the 8-bit happiness to a wider audience. Did they succeed without watering down the game too much?

Review: Borderlands

May 5, 2010 by Mike Shea

Borderlands is a unique and rare game that, unlike many current games, pulls you in right away and never lets go. This Diablo-style first person shooter has all of the best elements of an action game and a loot-based roleplaying game packed with some beautiful artwork and enough content to keep you busy for fifty hours or more.

Cleanings of Spring Dawning

May 4, 2010 by Vanir

This past week, my wife and I have been going through the house getting rid of old stuff. She enjoys freeing up space and seeing the house clean. I enjoy looking at my old stuff, reliving all the good times we had together, and almost weeping when I throw any of it away. And that’s not even talking about my boxes of AD&D 1E books from high school. SAVE VS PETRIFICATION.

Review: Dragon Age: Origins – Return To Ostagar DLC

April 29, 2010 by Vanir

Dragon Age fans! Go back to where it all started! See dead people! Find stuff. If you’re me, be disappointed. Should you buy this? Read on for my recommendation. (Hint: NO.)

Review: “God of War III”

April 16, 2010 by Vanir

God of War III is big, beautiful, and ultra-violent. But does it live up to the hype? To find out, you must visit the Oracle at Delphi! (Or, you can just click the link if you don’t have that kind of time.)

Cheeseburger, Plain

March 30, 2010 by Vanir

Back in my day, you had to turn in government stamps just to play a game of pong! We used to have to steal ram chips just to remember where we lived! My daddy worked on the parallel port, and worked 256 shifts manufacturing computer metaphors! And all you damn kids want is more explosions. I’ll have none of it!
