YouTube Tuesday: “I can make a lightsaber out of wire, a battery, and a wineglass” edition

April 21, 2009 by Dave

McGuyver opening + Star Wars. Pretty straightforward but fun.

Krod Mandoon: Comedy Central caters to the RPG crowd?

April 9, 2009 by Bartoneus

What better to occupy my 10-11pm hour on the Thursday before a Friday off from work then the potentially horrible but still quite intriguing Comedy Central premiere of a fantasy-comedy series? Not much! The full title for the show is Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire, and it will be showing for at least a few half-hour episodes on Thursday nights at 10pm.

Watchmen…

March 8, 2009 by spankleberry

…is to become Saturday morning cartoon… !? Watchmen is a serious, serious bit of graphic novel, even with meta-powered individuals populating its story. Written by psychedelically charged soul-delver Alan Moore, it is a seminal piece of literature, and I might almost be excited to see them release a movie of it this week. But I […]

New Feature: Guide to Gaming DVDs

March 2, 2009 by Dave

Our newest feature is up, and it’s a bit different than the previous ones. It’s a Guide to Gaming DVDs, showcasing both those that star gamers as central characters and ones that are officially Dungeons & Dragons (as much as we might try to disown them). It’s an update of my gift guide from years ago, updated both with new information and to trim out some of the DVDs that didn’t quite fit as well (but might make it into a future feature).

YouTube Tuesday: Doctor WTF Edition

February 3, 2009 by Dave

What happens when ou mash-up Doctor Who, Benny Hill, and Eminem? A lot of running, at the very least. Hat tip to Graham.

Battlestar Galactica: The Beginning of the End Starts Tonight

January 16, 2009 by Dave

Tonight at 10 EST, the last half of the last season of the remake of Battlestar Galactica premieres (or more simply, Season 4.5… since we all know that calling things “.5” is an awesome idea). For those of you not caught up, I recommend avoiding this post since it contains some SPOILERS, and will probably […]

Inq. of the Week: Choose Your Holiday

December 22, 2008 by Dave

With the holiday season in full force, schedules are messed up, bloggers post less (and manage to somehow be even lazier), and holiday meetups of all kinds commence. But as retail agencies and talk show hosts have discovered, not everyone celebrates the same holiday this time of year. Crazy, I know.

Equivalent Exchange

December 9, 2008 by Dave

icv2 reports that Full Metal Alchemist will be getting a second series. Sequel series that picks up after the movie? Re-done version that sticks closer to the manga (ala Hellsing)? The adventures of the protagonist pair’s alter-egos in our world during the early 30’s? The article doesn’t say, but I’m skeptical that anything will be […]

Take a trip down to Fabletown

December 8, 2008 by The Main Event

Fables, my vote for the best ongoing comic of the past five years, has been approved by ABC as a pilot. This project has really high potential, but I fear could easily suffer from a serious watering down that would make the show revolve around a “fable of the week” concept at the expense of […]
