Say what you will about the man, he did give us dancing zombies, which lead to the above.
Transformers 2: Expectations?
In what is a rare occurence for my wife and I, we did not go to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at a midnight showing last night. It’s not because of the Tuesday night issue, we went to see The Dark Knight at midnight on a Wednesday (though the day of work afterward was very tough), and it’s definitely not an issue of us not being excited about it. Honestly I can’t tell you why for sure, maybe it’s because we’re finally getting a bit more mature (or lazy).
Inq. of the Week: Quinto vs. Quinto
A while back, over two years ago it seems, we had an epic showdown Inquisition between Ian McKellen and Ian McKellen…errr, I mean between Gandalf the White and Magneto! The mysterious White Wizard ending up kicking considerable ass in the poll, but it generated some interesting debate about who would actually win in a fight.
YouTube Tuesday: In Brightest Day, and Blackest Pony Edition
Two fake trailers for existing properties: above, the My Little Pony movie trailer that takes a different tact than you might expect, and below, a Green Lantern trailer thatputs the emerald ring on the capable hands of Nathan Fillon.
Marvel’s X-Men Movie Mistakes
Stemming from some of the comments on Darth Cthulhu’s ‘controversial’ Star Trek post, I started thinking about the first X-Men movie and its relation to the rest of the franchise now that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is out. One commentor related the first X-Men movie, Ironman, and the first Spiderman to Star Trek as examples that […]
The Contrary Opinion – J.J. Abram’s Star Trek (With Spoilers!)
If one takes the glowing reviews of J.J. Abram’s Star Trek as a representative sample of the populace, most people love this movie. I am not most people.
Fascinating, Captain
As I sat watching Star Trek on Sunday, I was struck with a strong (but familiar) thought: “damn, I really want to run a campaign set in this. ” About 4 years back now, I tried starting up a Star Trek campaign using d20 Modern/d20 Future and a few house rules (mainly for playable races). I […]
Inq. of the Week: The Stars Are Trekkin’
Over the weekend, I caught the newest entry in the battle between Star Wars and Star Trek, as the Federation Strikes Back with the new update, featuring a rebooted franchise and cast (with one exception). I was not alone in this, as many showings were sold out as everyone and their mother (literally) sought out the new adventures of Kirk and Spock. Thus, for all you new and old Trek fans alike, to balance the scales of last week, I present to you the following query…
YouTube Tuesday: The Preciousss Edition
Above is the trailer for The Hunt for Gollum, a 40 minute fan-made prequel to the Lord of the Rings movies, and it looks pretty darn good. If you like the trailer, you can watch the full thing only online. I haven’t gotten a chance to see the whole thing through myself, but I can’t […]
Inq. of the Week: The Stars are Warring?
It happens to be May the 4th, and a Monday, so I couldn’t let this go by without doing a Star Wars based inquisition of the week. With what could possibly be one of the corniest geek habits of using dates to make inside jokes, “May the 4th be with you” is apparently something that isn’t going away anytime soon. It occured to me that we have never done a poll about the Star Wars movies, which I am correcting today.
