As rumored and then announced yesterday, the long-promised revision of the Game System License for 4e D&D was released. While it’s certainly important news, I think the actual effects on the average gamer are minimal.
YouTube Tuesday: No, Seriously, It’s A Trap Edition
Admiral Ackbar knows a trap when he sees one. If only the Corleone family had hired him.
New Feature: Guide to Gaming DVDs
Our newest feature is up, and it’s a bit different than the previous ones. It’s a Guide to Gaming DVDs, showcasing both those that star gamers as central characters and ones that are officially Dungeons & Dragons (as much as we might try to disown them). It’s an update of my gift guide from years ago, updated both with new information and to trim out some of the DVDs that didn’t quite fit as well (but might make it into a future feature).
10 Monsters I Use in Every D&D Campaign (And 5 I Don’t)
I actually had come up with this post BEFORE everyone else on the RPG Bloggers Network started doing their own lists… honest! So here’s my list not necessarily of my favorite monsters in D&D, but of those that I always try to work into every campaign I run. Then, a list of 5 monsters we […]
YouTube Tuesday: Two Scimitars, No Waiting Edition
This has been making the rounds (or is that, making the Realms?) this week: a fan film based on a book starring everyone’s favorite dual-wielding Drow renegade with a figurine of wonderous power, Drizzt.
Review: “Fanboys”
It has taken a journey worthy of the Hero Cycle: the movie Fanboys, written over a decade ago before Phantom Menace came out, has struggled against setbacks and massive executive meddling, has finally been released. It was many years in development and suffered delays (I first heard about it two years ago, when it was set to be released in the summer of ’07), so the question is, has it all been worth it?
The answer, as Master Yoda would say it, is a solid “Yes, hrrrrrmmmm.”
Inq. of the Week: Social Networking
This week is just another question about getting to know you. In fact, it’s about what you use to get others to know you, and to get to know others!
Review: Bucephalus Games Initial Lineup
They may have a funny name, but they’re not messing around: Bucephalus Games stormed onto the scene last year, quickly putting out a number of board game titles and having an impressive precense at both Origins and Gen Con. A quick look at their web page shows that some pretty big names are part of this new company too. The company was kind enough to send me four of their games for review- for a new company to even have four games at launch is impressive, but they already have no less than 10 MORE games planned, showing strong ambition for a new company.
5 Things I Loved and 5 Things I Hated About 2nd Edition AD&D
Greywulf and Mike Mearls both have given their opinions on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition on the occasion of it’s 20 year anniversary. While AD&D (1e) was the first version of D&D I played as a very wee one, 2e was the first where I was part of a regular gaming group, the first […]
YouTube Tuesday: City 17 Edition
Since I was sent it no less than 3 times this week, here’s the Half-Life 2 fan movie that everyone’s talking about. It’s well done, but perhaps more importantly, it shows that good quality stuff can now be made for as cheap as $500.
