If you’re a subscriber to Dungeons & Dragons Insider, you may want to check your credit card statement from the past few months for fraudulent charges. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the e-commerce servicer Digital River (which handles the payment processing for DDI) was recently hacked, leading to possible leak of the personal information of almost 200,00 customers.

Air War: A Skill Challenge
I’ve done a few airship skill challenges before, thanks to a motley Dwarven pirate airship. Escape from the giant dragon air skill challenge and oh crap the airship is crashing skill challenge both had been done, so for this one, I envisioned something like the space battles in Star Wars, like the trench run but in a more open space. Thus, I consulted Gamefiend, the mad genius of skill challenges, for his help in designing it. One Skype call later (and then another day of planning later) I came up with the following skill challenge.
The Keys to Con Games
I’m picky. Nay, I’m downright spoiled about my convention time. I’ve been going to conventions since before I was born and going to gaming rooms since I knew enough to not eat the dice (you roll them first, then eat them.) I’ve seen it all, and I’m much more militant about not spending precious time and money at a convention on a game I’m not going to enjoy. So how do I try to mitigate this and only play in the awesome? I narrow my convention game search to the following categories.
Inq. of the Week: The Frogurt is Also Cursed
Let’s talk cursed items for a minute. You remember those, right? Those items you found in random treasure piles that you think might be awesome, and before you know it, they’re changing your gender or biting your back.
Early Friday Chat: Embarassing Campaigns, Geek Influences, and Kitchen-Sinking
Maybe it’s because my early gaming experiences were at science fiction conventions (which definitely included plenty of outside influences) that I do like to weave in plenty of “winks” into my campaigns and lift liberally from pop culture. And yet, at the same time, I’m clearly embarassed by some of the elements that have made its way into my campaigns.
Inq. of the Week: Doctor… Who?
This weekend held one of the few must-see TV events for me: the premiere of the new season (or to some, new series) of Doctor Who here in the US. When reviewing the RPG, I mentioned how much of a fan of the more recent episodes I am. I thought David Tennant did a fantastic job, and was sad to see him go. However, I was still looking forward to seeing what the new guy would bring to the job.
We Are the Champions: DM Challenge at Pax East 2010
As you may have heard by now, I won the DM’s Challenge, put together by WotC on the Saturday of Pax. For weeks, since it was announced, ChattyDM and I have been trash talking and hyping each other up about the event. For a while, I was worried that the event wouldn’t run due to lack of participants. Boy, was I wrong.
Inq. of the Week: Modifying Your Game
During the week in which that question was asked, we ran a week of homebrew rules, some advice, and even a mini-game. I hope you enjoyed it- if you’d like to see more like that, or have any other ideas for theme weeks, let us know. And to close out the homebrew week, I ask the following question in relation…
E11 – 4e Gritty Heroic Roleplay
Cap the level at 11, only gaining new feats and upgrading powers, to make for a more gritty heroic 4e experience.
