Introducing: Roll, the Critical Hits Tumblog

November 12, 2010 by Dave

Hopefully you know us by now, and know some of the people behind it. We’ve been posting for nearly 5 years now, and have refined our posting style into the “Magazine”-type blog you see today. We hold ourselves to a high standard of posts and journalistic standards.

However…

Sometimes we want to toss out a quick idea. Sometimes we want to post pictures from our home games. Sometimes, we don’t have enough to say about a product to warrant a full, multi-paragraph review. Sometimes, we have something to say that’s more than 140 charactersbut fewer than 3 paragraphs. Sometimes, we want to write lazy posts. That’s where the Roll! blog comes in. And it’s also where YOU come in.

See, not only will our staff of existing writers be posting on Roll! (on no regular schedule- just as the mood strikes us) but we also invite you, our audience, to submit posts of any length. (You just need to register.) We’ll screen them and post the ones we like. If it’s particularly great, we’ll feature it on Critical Hits prime.

To sum it up another way, Roll! is a Tumblr-style blog for Critical Hits staff and readers, while staying with WordPress for compatibility reasons (through the magic of MultiSite.)

This is a complete experiment for us. Let us know what you think or if there’s something else you’d like to see, and welcome to our new section! And many thanks to Eric Maziade for helping us get up and running.

Head on over to Roll! today to check it out.

Hmmm. I dig this a lot. I may transfer my GammaWorld AP post over here (which would need a updated link change in your post). Coolness.

Huzzah! Its a cool format… maybe I’d write more if I’d try to write less…

(Looks like I’m in a philosophical mood today)

It’s an idea we had Dave and I a long time ago. I’m so happy to see it take shape like that and being used right off the bat. Looking forward to see how it will be used by CH writers and readers.
