Inq. of the Week: Who Reads Comics?

September 29, 2008 by Bartoneus

We should have provided an over/under on last week’s poll, I’d be curious to see who would have guessed that 52% of our voting readers are married gamers.  Coming in at second is 28% of you who are gamers and single, 16% are gamers and in relationships, with only 5 votes (3%) in the gamer that doesn’t fit into one of the the above categories and 4 votes (2%) who are not gamers at all.  Thanks to everyone who shared more details about their relationships (or lack thereof) in the comments!

Yesterday Dave and I spent a few hours at the Baltimore Comic-Con, which was my first time there and Dave’s third Comic-Con, so neither of us are particularly seasoned veterans (we’re more accustomed to gaming conventions).  It was a very enjoyable experience and we’ll both be posting a few things about it over the course of the week, so keep an eye out for those if you’re into comics!  Naturally, that leads us to this week’s Inquisition where we’d like to find out what kinds of comics our current readers like to read.

I would add manga as a choice.

Bah! Sorry that got left out originally, it’s been added in and if anyone would like a vote to be added to Manga just let me know. Sorry again, considering the amount of space in book stores that it takes up these days you figure we would have thought of it! 😀

Does Vertigo count as DC? I assumed yes. Anyway, you can always check out some of my comic book opinions at: http://www.411mania.com/author/?author=2896

My personal favorite right now is Fables.

I abandoned American Comics a long time ago. I still read Euro ‘Bandes Dessinés’ like the Chronicle of the Black Moon and other Heroic Fantasy stuff.

As for Manga, apart Dragonball and Akira, I haven’t really indulged much.

I read a lot of Webcomics!

As for Comic book stores in Montreal… they seem to be slowly dying (so are gaming stores…) I think we need to take out Amazon…

one of the best fantasy comics ever, is the french “chronicles of the black moon” series. Never seen it in english though.

Probably not worth adding to the poll, but I wonder how many people read euro comics? (or even know about them)

I don’t read a lot of comics, mostly DC, Marvel and some manga… although some Dark Horse titles seem promising… but since it all costs money, I buy trade paperbacks… and my collection is very small…

Wow, let me say how nice the new layout looks. Dave and Danny’s little website is all grown up now!

    *pride* 🙂

Reading Watchmen right now…WOW. I’ll never look at comics the same way again.

I must say, the grey-and-white is a very good look…definitely a lot better than it used to be…

We’re still tweaking the theme and probably will be all this week, so thanks for the feedback!

Oh great, here comes all the bashing of our old layout. 🙁

The old layout was good too…don’t mean to bash…
