Expect posting to be light for the next week or so as Bartoneus and myself prepare for the oncoming train game con that is GenCon. We’ve purposely left a lot of our schedule open so that we can cover the con and get into pick-up games that look interesting. We have scheduled just a few things, including moderating a panel!
Thursday:
- DD&D (9 PM) I designed the game, then convinced Chatty to run with it. Now I get booze AND an expertly-run D&D adventure! The life of a game designer is good.
Friday:
- True Dungeon Hardcore Mode (11:30 PM to ???) I try True Dungeon for the first time, and focus on not totally sucking for the rest of the party.
- Possibly crashing a NASCRAG session with the Stupid Ranger crew.
Saturday:
- RPG Bloggers Unite! (1 PM to 2 PM) Moderated by yours truly.
Sunday:
- Out of the Box Roleplaying (9AM to 11AM) Damn, have to remember to make my character!
Unscheduled:
- The type of coverage that I did for Origins, only with more because I’ll have Bartoneus along with me to share the workload. Interviews, seminars, first impressions, photographs, podcasts, and much more.
- Micro-blogging via the Critical Hits Twitter feed which Bartoneus and I will be updating whenever we remember from our phones.
- Networking with all the other bloggers who will be there, as well as any readers and other friends. (i.e. getting drunk with anyone we run into.) And all the while, pimping the RPG Bloggers Network.
- The press offers are starting to roll in, and we’ve been invited to check out no less than 3 MMOs already. There’s some other stuff I’m hoping to check out, like the World of Warcraft CMG, and I’m sure we’ll come across more stuff that we want. We also are going to try to catch up with the WotC staffers who will be there, both to chat and get in some of the games that they run. What can I say- we like playing in RPGs run by professionals. We’ve become accustomed to the good life.
Weigh in here if there’s anything you want us to cover, or if we’ll see you there!

Can’t wait to see any interviews or seminars and any other live coverage on GenCon. By the way, will you be at Chatty’s DM-Fu seminar?

Bartoneus says
I (at least me, not sure if Dave will be on it) plan on rushing the microphone and getting all up in Phil’s face the whole time.
Odds of me being drunk and/or naked at the time are HIGH. Also I’ll probably be spouting nonesense like, “You think you’re better than us?!” and “We used to be friiiiieeeeeends!”

Sounds great– I envy you and look forward to your reporting.

The Game says
Questing GM: We didn’t sign up, and I don’t know if it’s a limited enrollment seminar, but we might try to crash it anyway. (Depending on how many drinks Bartoneus has had that morning.)
Scott: We’ll try to make it seem like you’re there. Only, without using video, because we can’t really do that yet.

I will have to stop by to meet you at the RPG Bloggers Unite! meeting. 🙂
