Last week we held the poll to determine the winner of our Gaming Quote Contest, the results are in and the winner is:
Player: “What did you say about foreplay and fornication?”
DM: “I said it was FULL PLATE of FORTIFICATION.”
Congratulations Happy Turtle! We will be in touch shortly. Thanks to everyone who contributed and voted!
This week we return to Inquisitions as normal, and with our D&D games starting back up now, I’ve realized that I haven’t gotten together with friends in a while to play some good old board games! After discussing briefly with Joshx0rfz, he expressed the concern that he doesn’t enjoy playing board games anymore.
I know that we’ve done a poll like this one before, but it’s good to update it every now and then to see what types of games our audience likes the most, and which they don’t really play.

It’s all about D&D Baby!
And some Wow on the side when D&D is not looking.
Don’t hate a player!

While I like to play all of those types of games, I like to play console video games, tabletop roleplaying games and board games the most.
Not sure what types of games would qualify as “other”. Maybe LARPs? Dice games? Loopin Louie?

While I know it’s not a big thing here, the survey does request I indicate what my choice of “other” means. My answer is of course sports. I know, boooooo! But, whether or not you are a fan of sports, it remains abundantly clear IMO that to be a sport you have to first be a game.

even though Happy Turtle clearly won the popular vote, I submit that my quote would carry more swing states, and should appeal more to the superdelegates.
J/K congratz, Mr. Turtle!

To be fair to board games, I dislike lots of things without good reason.
Not all sports are games – running for instance isn’t really a game. You have a time to beat perhaps but not much more then that.

Reminds me of one of my favorite comedy quotes:
“Swimming is not a sport! It is a method of not drowning.”

@ joshx0rfz:
Its true that not all sports are games. Racing sports are not really games. But other than that, I think that the problem is that the word ‘sport’ has become overapplied to the point that it is no longer a meaningful word. I mean, nowadays, anything can be a sport…even eating.
Personally I think it is ridiculous. If anything can be a sport, why even use the word?
But back on topic, I think that most TEAM sports are definitely games, and many individual sports are also games.
