I have them! 4e books!

June 6, 2008 by The Chatty DM

Expect a ton of mini posts in the next few days as I chronicle my 4e Experience.

I have them, still shrink wrapped!Β  Woot!

I just got back home from ZeStuff (the main sponsor of this here blog) where I picked up 2 Core Sets, 5 Players Handbooks and 1 Dungeon Master Guide.

Pierre-Luc was nice enough to offer me a Core Set so I’ll post reviews/playtest of each in the next week or so expect a few reviews/playtest reports in the following days (Thanks man, you guys rock!).

I also got a nice dungeon floor-colored Vinyl Battlemap, such a nice cool gift.

Now I’m off to crack the wrapping and get drunk on that new book smell.

What would be the chances of starting the reviews with the DMG?

Hmmmm, Amazon is down, so I can’t even check to see where my books are. But they left Amazon this morning on their way north, so hopefully it is just the site that is down and the southern US hasn’t been wiped off the face of the earth…

I noticed that Amazon was down. Probably all the geeks trying to check if their copies shipped yet ;-).

Which, of course, mine haven’t. I’m swinging by a Borders tonight to pick up a PHB to be a “table copy” for the players (since not all of them will buy one). They’ve all offered to chip in a little bit, so it won’t be so bad. I also wanted a copy to have on hand for running the game tomorrow. I know they have basic rules in with the packages, but the full book will be good for some of the other stuff that won’t appear in the quickstart rules but could be important. Also, the pregens have been inaccurate in a lot of cases (leaving off the Half-elf “cross-classish” ability, and the Warlord’s “Inspiring Word” for the Keep on the Shadowfell pregens), so I’d like to make sure that the players get all the abilities they’re supposed to have. These things tend to be hard enough as it is.

Thanks for reminding me… I packed the KoS Warlord to be used as a supplemental PC for tonight’s Home Game day adventure (we are 7 players including the DM and there are only 5 PCs)

I excitedly opened an Amazon package this morning, only to find it was a shipment of comic books I ordered in April. Still waiting on my 4e core books!

In spite of spending 12 hours in the car today, I managed to swing by a B&N to pick up their last copy of the set. Amazon delivered my Keep book after I left town naturally (weeks late) and the mailman just jammed it in the tiny mail box. Thanks buddy.

Looking at the Best Sellers lists on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, the 4E books are ranked #4 and #5 respectively. So much for piracy hurting sales. Also, it seems like some of those “I’m not buying $E” folks from the WotC forums may have actually bought them. I haven’t bought mine yet, but I’m glad to see they’re doing well.

My local gaming store already ran out of stock for the PHB, I guess i’ll try my luck with Amazon, though with its popularity I guess there’s a chance it’ll be out of stock there, too.

I’m looking forward to your 4e chronicles in the coming days.

If you can’t find it on Amazon, ZeStuff still has some in stock. After that, we’re looking at a few months…

    Have a look here.
