Kotaku reports that Darth Vader will appear as a special character in Soul Calibur IV for PS3, and Yoda will appear in the Xbox 360 version. Soul Calibur is my favorite fighting game franchise, with a history of strange guest starring characters (Spawn and Link, anyone?) I was ready to give the fourth installment a pass, due to some pretty darn excessive cheesecake. However, my nerdy soul probably won’t be able to resist the prospect of Yoda thrashing on Nightmare with a weapon that, well, should easily destroy everyone. It’s lame that you won’t be able to fight Vader and Yoda against each other, but maybe some downloadable characters will fix that later.
After the jump, see the new trailer which introduces them. And the Force Soul still burns…

Sorry, just looking at the screenshots, they have Darth Vader doing anime sword ballet.
It’ll work fine for yoda, cause that fits what we saw of his fighting style, but they really need to animate Darth Vader calmly. He wouldn’t dance around. Ballet isn’t menacing.
SO yeah, I’m skeptical how well they’ll handle this. Please feel free to shoot me down on this one.

And i know this would be game breaking, but during the standoff shot between Mitsurugi and Vader, all I could picture was Vader casually pushing his saber forward right through Mitsurugi’s katana, slicing it in two.
…yes, like butter.

So I’m guessing no Soul Calibur 4 for Wii. If they later were to release a version for the Wii, I wonder what guest character they would include. My bet would be Obi-Wan.

Abe- it does take some suspension of disbelief, for sure. While you could say that everyone in SC uses magic weapons (and those could block lightsabers), people should really get cut in half when struck.
Sultan- they released a crappy SC themed adventure game for Wii, and it looks like that’s all they’re getting. We’ll just have to wait for Force Unleashed for some badass Star Wars on the Wii.
