Obligatory Blog Social Meme: Four on the Floor

September 21, 2007 by The Chatty DM

Wow, a few days shy of my 2nd month doing this Bloggy buisness and I’ve already been tagged by The Stupid Ranger for a thing called a Meme. Now having read both of Brin’s uplift Trilogies I know that a Meme is a lifeform made out of ideas!!!! So I am basically being infected!

Never being one to miss an occasion to yap about something, I’ll tackle this before breakfast! (As usual, when I do one of these things, I’ll try to add a more gaming related post later today…)

Four jobs I have had in my life (not including my current job):

  • High School Teacher
  • Environmental Microbiologist
  • Pharmaceutical GMP Compliance Supervisor
  • Project Manager, International Pharmaceutical Product Launch (that one nearly killed me)

Four Films I have watched again and again:

  • The 1st Matrix movie
  • Amelie
  • Any Pixar Movies (with our without my kids)
  • Run Lola Run

Four places I have lived:

  • Montreal
  • Chibougamau (Amerindian for ‘the pavement stops here’)
  • In a church’s Presbitary (cheapest rent ever!)
  • Here! (I’m in the red house!)

Four Programs I love to watch:

  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Avatar The Last Airbender
  • Robot Wars
  • Scrubs

Four Places I have been on vacation:

  • Club Med, Florida
  • Nicaragua
  • Paris (Work + extra me time)
  • Madrid (Work + extra me time)

Four of my favorite foods:

  • Lasagna – Family Recipe
  • Club Sandwich (Chicken, Bacon, Tomato, lettuce)
  • Lebanese food
  • Sushi

Four favorite drinks:

  • Diet Coke
  • Red Wine
  • Beer
  • Single Malt Scotch

Four places I would rather be right now:

  • Playing D&D
  • Home with my family
  • Playing D&D
  • Work, actually.

Four People I Tag (unless you’ve already done this… then you don’t have to):

  • Dave and Danny of Critical Hits
  • Greywulf from Greywulf’s Lair
  • Becky from Imaginary Dilemmas
  • Ronin from Ronin’s Forteress

I’ll also tag you all readers without a blog. Leave the answers in the comment. This is more fun than chain letters or Viral songs. (Click at your own risk)

Good morning Noah! Thanks for the comment. By the way, you have a good writing style and I like reading your stuff. You’d be a regular Blogger and I would read. Think about it….

The ‘Ire’ in quagmire..’ I liked that…

Ronin, Graywulf and Becky did theirs and I learned a lot of cool things.

    Phil,

Thanks! I’ve considered putting up a blog for a while – I’m mostly a reader and commenter here and there. ‘Sandwater Outcomes’ is my first toe-dip into the pool. The project it’s chronicling is somewhat stalled right now, but might be moving again sometime soon. As for writing about other gaming stuff, I’m tempted. I’ve got a few settings I’d like to toss out, mostly for vanity’s sake, for my 28mm games, and my RPGs. I might have to give Sandwater Outcomes a few siblings…but there’s school and family, so… πŸ™‚

The thing though, is that with your latest 5 comments widgets the spam bots gets more visibility then they would even if they stay in this thread.

On the other hand, it alerts you to them faster, allowing you to kill them ASAP.

  15. ChattyDM says

    October 31, 2007 at 5:08 pm

That it does. But I also get instant email notification of each comments that hits any post of the plog. So the Nuke button is never far…

I just had a flash of a supremacy game here…

Where something like the following happened:

A player: Well there’s nothing i can do to win this game so I’ll nuke you Phil.

Phil: Why me! Yan Is closer to win then me anyway.

    Me: I have to agree.

The other player: Well I’m coming back with Yan afterward I’d rather kill you…

    Me:… πŸ˜‰

    Phil: WTF!

    Gotta love nukes! LOL!

  17. ChattyDM says

This Post is now the official Chatty DM Graffiti Wall!

Ugh… Supremacy, one of the most flawed game I’ve ever played…

Damn you nuclear weapons with no political cost!

  18. PM says

    October 31, 2007 at 9:19 pm

It’s fun to see that the kill Yan/Phil first applies in multiple games…

  19. Yan says

Yeah. I’m just too good for my own good. If you know what’s good for you, it might be good idea to get me while you can. Cause I’ll make good use of any extra time to pound you for good. πŸ˜‰

Okay, they’re starting to move into porn ads. Maybe a captcha isn’t an awful idea.

  21. ve4grm says

    November 4, 2007 at 11:34 pm

Or for another method, maybe there’s a way to prevent urls in unregistered names?

  22. ChattyDM says

    November 5, 2007 at 5:29 am

    No there isn’t with Blogger…

    My solutions are

    1) Move to WordPress and use cool Captcha widgets

    2)Or activate Blogger’s Captcha…

    Which I’m doing now… I can’t have sex ads here…

  23. ve4grm says

Actually, if you’re interested, I can help with the first one.

Shoot me an email if you want, and we can discuss it.
