BSG, Lost Ending

May 11, 2007 by Dave

adama.jpgIESB.net is reporting that Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica will be its last. The site spoke to Edward Olmos (Admiral Adama) who stated that the next will be the last, which was confirmed by Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck.) Obviously this isn’t a definite coming from the stars and not an official network release, but it doesn’t come as that big a surprise.

Lost has also planned its final season, though it won’t be until 2010, giving it a few years to wrap everything up and answer any remaining questions about numbers and polar bears.

Personally, I’d like it if more series were planned out to last a specific number of years. That way, there’s no stretching of plotlines, no episodes that just tread water, etc. Of course, I’d also like it if networks were more accountable for keeping good shows on the air, instead of Fox’s policy to make good shows and then kill them off.

I’m also looking forward to the Heroes season finale, where they promised to answer almost everything, and then set up a new cast of characters for the next season to raise more questions.

(Thanks to ExtraLife for both scoops!)

BSG definitely needs to end. I don’t know about Lost but it sounds like it has been dragging on as well. I’ll probably actually watch BSG on DVD if they end it relatively soon.

It’s definitely worth watching on DVD. It’s one of those series that if you weren’t onboard from the beginning, it’s not worth watching later episodes.

BSG should benefit from having a definitive ending. Although some episodes of Season 3 were not fantastic, it was still better than most anything else I watched on TV. Heroes has steadily raised the stakes and quality of the show throughout the season, I’d say “Company Man” featuring Horn-Rimmed Glasses Dude was a fantastic episode of television, regardless of what people think about Heroes in general. If you want to watch the most masterfully plotted (and also finite) show on television I implore everyone to check out The Wire. It’s a shame it does not get the same press as Sopranos, but thats what happens when one show is about Jersey white thugs and another is about Baltimore black thugs.

So Heroes is actually good? I kept hearing that it was awful, so I didn’t give it a shot.

It started bad for (roughly) the first half of the show, but then slowly got more and more awesome. The time travel episodes in particular showed how good the concept could be. I recommend checking it out when it comes out on DVD, but making judicious use of the fast forward. I’ll also see if I can do some kind of recap after the season finale in a week or two.

BSG might not be ending after all, according to the executive producers:
