My name is mash-up and I have metal joints…

Some more mash-ups for your listening enjoyment… all free too!

Beatles + Beastie Boys = Beastles. Mostly Beastie Boy lyrics overtop remixed Beatles music, with some of the important Beatles lyrics tossed in for emphasis. Not bad, I wasn’t familiar with any of the Beastie Boys songs used, and I felt there were some missed opportunities, but definitely a good listen for Beatles fans who also like rap.

Q-Unit: 50 Cent and Queen. I’m secure enough in my manliness to admit that Queen is one of my favorite bands. I was hoping that this would be an interesting mix of Queen tracks with some 50 cent lyrics mixed in between, but it mostly comes across as 50 cent. The Queen parts tend to be buried, which is unfortunate. Worth a listen for Queen fans, but nothing that’s going to make its way onto my ipod.

Best of Bootie 2005. A general mashup album, with some great tracks. I have to listen to it a few more times, but the standout so far is the Beatles/Guns ‘N Roses mashup. Plus, there’s a lot of variety… even if you don’t download the whole album, there’s bound to be at least one artist you like mashed up with someone else.

Apparently a popular target for mashups is 50 Cent’s “Disco Inferno.” Those last two albums each have a mashup of it, but of course, the best mashup comes from the previously reported on Chrono Trigger Mixtape. What could beat the Gato Theme?
