I’m reading the D&D Game Day adventure (titled Into the Shadowhaunt) to prepare for a full day of DMing.
I won’t spoil it but I can tell you that you should get a D&D mini that represents the pre-generated character you will choose (one of 5) on Saturday. So call your FLGS and register for a game!
Oh and I scored a Large Silver Dragon in my last D&D Dungeons of Dread minis booster box! Woot!
Here’s a few new community projects to make up for my lack of Chattyness.
The Propagandroid’s Wiki!
My new blogging buddy Propagandroid of the Gamer Dome has created a Game Design Wiki to bring together creative types to works on RPGs (Rules and Settings), Board games and Card games.
He’s giving out a copy of the 2nd Edition of the Talisman game or the d20 A Game of Thrones among those who join.
Is the Pen mightier than the Sword?
James and Harry (see James? I named you first) of Men with Pens have created a new web site called Escaping Reality. It’s a new experiment for those who want to explore creative writing in the form of an online Role Playing game (like you see on some forums).
They have also created a Blog specifically for this endeavor and have posted a contest to get people started! They are giving out a lot of World of Darkness prizes.
It’s a shame I can’t spend more time online, ‘cuz I’d have been there!
Chatty’s own contest!
Also don’t forget about my own contest, open until June 7th where I asked you to provide me with Story tricks and tips for characters.
Pimp your Website here!
Finally, I haven’t been able to keep up much as a community promoter. So I’d lke to invite readers with blogs to leave a comment here and pimp their site or recent posts.
Feel free to leave links. While your comments may get eaten up by my Spam filter, I’ll re-instate them… Which in turn will supposedly teach my new plugin (Defensio) to recognize true comments from spam.
See you later this week.

I’m almost done reading the Game Day adventure.
If you want a high quality 1 evening test of 4e, get your hands on this adventure. It’s better than Keep on the Shadowfell and is a 5 room dungeon with actual riddles and roleplaying.
It’s just not a campaign starter like Keep is.

I sooooooooooooo want the dragon!! You love me, don’t you?

Hey, if I’m your blogging buddy, why haven’t I made your blogroll? *cry*
Thanks for the shout, things are starting to move on the wiki, and I’ve just wrapped up a couple of big projects, so I should be spending more time on content there.
Where did you get ahold of the Gameday Adventure? I’d like to get ahold of it as well.
Sweet dragon. I’m saving my gaming bucks for Against the Giants. 😀
Hey, how’s Defensio? I use Aksimet and have been very happy with it.

I’m behind updating my blogroll Prop. I’ll catch up this week. 🙂
If you want the game day adventure you have to volunteer to your FLGS to run it for this weekend’s Game Day.
As for Defensio, it’s promising but it needs to be housebroken and stop calling some commenters as spammers.

Well I’ve been your Twitter buddy, so hopefully we can move it along to being blog buddies.
The next gaming session had a questionable quorum, so we decided to do the 4e test then. But I know that some of the players had already gotten KotS, so maybe using the game day module might throw them off a bit.
Too many games out now, reading up on 4e has taken me away from Age of Conan.
Do I need to pimp my site in the body or will your fancy AI find it for you? I’ll hit post and see. It works! Now I need to fix my icon, blog buddies don’t have default icons.

Well, I can’t resist self pimping. Check out Dungeon Mastering if you’re into white dragon jokes!

Hurrah! Time to pimp D20 Source, my D&D blog.

@e (Geekdreamgirl): I do have some web love for you, sweetum’s… but that does not extend to giving up my new favorite precious.
Dija know that a Silver dragon’s breath freezes you in place and makes you so cold yopu actually start dealing bonus cold damage when you hit stuff? How cool is that?
Oh and Solo monster HP in the D&D stats are very off (as in too low).
Finally a Silver dragon can, when it spends it’s action point, make 6 attacks… against maximum 2 targets (3 each)…. ouch!
@ Captain Cursor: Hey welcome on the blog sir! I’ll update my extended blogroll page later today to add you all in.
@Yax: Damn men we don’t interact enough… I need to go kick expy’s butt on your side soon!
@Jonathan: Always happy to hear from you. You are among the first blogs who’s linking helped me get read! Thanks!

Ok, my blog is called Trollsmyth. It’s mostly RPG stuff these days, like my hacks for my upcoming Moldvay/Cook/Labyrinth Lord D&D game, a few waxings grognardic, and art critiques.

The way the dragon’s paw is up makes it look like a kitty kat (which in turn makes me think of that stupid kitty kat song on the intardnetz, I’m a kitty kat, and I dance dance dance…gah crit to brain cells).

Chatty: I’m going to be running a Game Day table this weekend, but I don’t think the organizer has had the adventure come in yet 🙁
Without revealing too much… You’ve said that the players each get a mini for their character, I’m assuming that they get to take home. What do the poor, mal-treated, under-appreciated DMs get to take home? I mean other than the adventure, which at least three of my players will know because they’re going to the same event… (hopefully not at my table. I want the opportunity to kill complete strangers. I get to try to kill them often enough.)
I really hope the organizer get his hands on the stuff soon. Sadly, not a FLGS as there’s a bit of a shortage of them in area, but at least it gives a larger sense of community that there’s *something*.

I’ll doff my pointy red hat and represent for the legion of author-GMs over at Gnome Stew. We launched on May 12th, and we’ve already got several dozen (!) GMing articles up for your enjoyment.
Gnome power!
ChattyDM says
@ Brian: Your’s is on my daily read list. You have succeeding in bridging the old school and new school points of view in a centralized place and I like that!
@Felonius: I hope that the DMs will get to keep all the Monster minis with the appropriate cards. I won’t spoil it but I’d be thrilled to get the 2nd part’s boss mini and would complement my collection of 4e Solo critters (Hint hint)!

Ooo, blog pimping!
I’ve been writing Worlds in a Handful of Dice since March, at http://nitessine.wordpress.com/
It’s mostly about Pathfinder, organized play, observations on Finnish gaming events to make the foreigners jealous, and the occasional big whack at 4E.
Looks like I’ll be missing the D&D Game Day, because of a picnic, of all things.
I’ve been reading your blog for a while. I like it. I think I actually first got the link from Jonathan Drain.

Hey NiTessine,
Nice review of Keep on Shadowfell you got over there (ouch!) and I found Sunless Citadel so bad that I hacked it from a site-based adventure to an event based one half-way through!
I might just skip it then, or hack it (I think I’ll make the side-quest truly optional and lower NPC strength on the fly depending on the player’s level when the meet the big bad)!
It’s really interesting to see such a strong Finnish presence on the net for RPGs.
It’s also refreshing to see the different philosophies that guide the bloggers from each culture.
Is adult gaming a long standing tradition in Finland? I know it has been a ‘respectable’ activity in Germany for a long time.
Germany and Finland are the 2 top non-English countries I get readers from.
I may do a debate based on regional differences vs RPGs (but then again that might deteriorate in easy US bashing, which I have no stomach for…)
NiTessine says
Well, “respectable” may be a bit of a stretch, but we never really had a proper Satanism scare and our religious whackjobs are a comparatively mild-mannered lot, so roleplaying games were never vilified by the media.
There were a couple of attempts, though. We dig them up every now and then for laughs.
Mostly, there’s the social stigma of geekiness, and even that’s pretty much gone, by my experience. Roleplaying games are the kind of thing you can put on your CV. Hell, there are guys up north who are doing academic research on it and at least one doctoral dissertation in the works, that I know of.
Most people, of course, still have no idea what roleplaying games are, or they think it’s all larping.

It’s funny when I think of scandinavian religious whack jobs, I get an image of bear skins and Norse Mythologies.
