Odds and Ends

May 6, 2008 by The Chatty DM

I just finished compiling the list of contest entries and I posted the whole list over here in the forums.  I’m not going to write another article tonight, I’m pretty much spent.  Here’s a few tidbits.

On the Contest

There are 96 participants in the 10 word adventure contest.  I lost count after 300, but there are 20 full pages of entries.  WOW!  This is absolutely awesome!

Oh and James Hutchings has the most entries, followed by Revered Mike.

D&D Toolbox

Have a look over Jeff’s Gameblog, he wrote a great post about how useful a checklist-type of SRD would be for the Retro editions of D&D.

I’m a Chatty Twit

I caved in on the hype and I am on Twitter (find me at http://twitter.com/ChattyDM) feel free to add me to the followers and notify me, I could use more RPG-focused friends, my current crowd is very Writing/Online marketing focused (which is fine, I prefer my dishes more varied).

RSS vs Email subscription

My RSS subcriber count currently hovers around 280 (Almost 300, yay!) and I was wondering if some people would like me to implement an Email RSS subscription?  I’m not actively shoping for increased traffic (hey I got a PageRank of 4 for a RPG-niche blog, thank you Google!) but some people might prefer this to using RSS readers like Google Reader.

Let me know.

Chatty has been very Chatty

I’ve been extremely prolific lately (maybe even a bit too much). It was done by choice and passion, not by obligation.

Now I’m not going to say I’m going to slow down (because every time I do I write MORE!) but I will be skipping days every so often and maybe start forcing myself to keep some posts as unpublished instead of hitting the publish button as soon as I’m done with an article.

Just so you know, all my posts are usually written shortly before posting. I never manage to buildup a ‘buffer’ of articles (as some of my fellow bloggers urge me to do) because it kills me to sit on finished stuff.  I’ll work at this… or expect me to disappear completely when I go on vacation.

That being said, my health is better.  I get a few twinges of anxiety early in the week, but the constant exercise (I rock at DDR now) is doing it’s magic and things are looking good.

You all rock!

Thanks again one and all for the massive participation in the contest, and I wish to welcome all new readers who joined us in the last few weeks.

Might I remind you that I will be at Gen Con this fall and would love to set aside an evening for a Get Together with readers.  (As well as some games!)

Cya later this week where I’ll write about my last Adventure Prep for the end of our campaign.

It’s official – I’ll be on the east coast in August which makes it much easier to go to GenCon. I’ll be happy to join you and your readers. I know some of them read Dungeon Mastering too.

Well you know what the six fingered man said. “If you don’t have your health you haven’t got anything.” Glad you’re feeling better.
