With our own kind of homegrown controversy came a long and drawn out discussion over the methods for reviewing published tabletop RPG adventures, which led Dave to ask for your opinions on the matter last week. The largest group came out with 39% for reviews based on a read through but playing the module would be nice, with the second biggest at 25% preferring that reviews always be based on a play through of an adventure. In light of a quarter of you feeling play experiences are necessary, we will most likely focus more effort on playing the adventures that we review more thoroughly and giving our impression of both how they read and play.
I have a small handful of polls that creep back into my consciousness every year or two and the few that I’ve done multiple times before have been very enlightening. On that note I’m bringing back a poll that I last ran in March of 2008 and intended to run sometime near March of this year as well. It’s still close, right? The poll was simply asking how old you, our readers, are so that we could see (for the first time) what the age ranges we cover are and who has the majority. We were surprised to find back then that almost half of our readers were in their 30’s and that very few of our readers were below the age of 20. Things have changed a fair amount since then here at Critical Hits, so let’s find out exactly how much our readership has changed (or stayed the same)!

Also since March of 2008 I have jumped from one poll answer to another, and I won’t lie I spent a minute or two considering if I should change the answer selections simply to prevent it (thus keeping me younger and more beautiful). I did expand the “41 and older” answer to give a seperate selection for the 40’s and then 51 and older, as I feel our age range may be even more varied then it was previously. I’ve classified the poll in terms of RPG tiers, so if you’re answering lower in the poll just consider those Epic levels (because that’s what they really are).
Still happily in the 31-40 gang! 🙂
