Ennies Voting is Open: Vote for Critical Hits!

July 24, 2009 by Dave

Voting has opened in the Ennie Awards and we are nominated for Best Website. We’re up against tough competition: every single one of the other nominees puts out a site that I quite enjoy and visit regularly, as well as all being run by great people whom I consider friends (even the ones I’ve never met in person and only talked to online).

However, all that said, we would really like to win. We’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of hours providing content for all of you out there for free (and while we do have advertising and get cool free stuff, we funnel all that back into paying for trips to cons to cover and products to review). Winning the Ennies would mean a lot to us as it would give an extra amonut of validation to what we’re doing here. While our biggest validation is hearing from you, the readers, that we provide a useful site, a gold medal would just be that extra icing for us.

So please vote for us in the Ennie Awards. You don’t have to vote in every category, and remember, 1s are good and 5s are low!

And if my pleas aren’t enough, here’s what other people have had to say about us:

I read this gaming blog called critical-hits. It’s awesome, and if you like RPGs, you should read it too.

—Wil Wheaton (Yes, that Wil Wheaton)

Dave and his crew rock! They write about all things gaming and I check out their website everyday.

–Yax of Dungeonmastering on his list of Top 50 RPG Websites

I chose to give my whole support to Dave and Danny’s Critical Hits blog.  They’ve managed to produced high quality content on a consistent basis, they’ve achieved an excellent reputation as gaming journalist and the manage to entertain me with their witty geek humour and excellent selection of Tuesday Videos.  Of particular interest to me is their collection of D&D 4e resources that they’ve gathered from all over the web and organized in easy to use format.

–Phil of ChattyDM.net

Critical Hits is a cool D&D site. Although it focuses a lot on 4E, you can extrapolate a lot to any edition.

–Monte Cook, Game Designer, Author, and Manager of Dungeon A Day

[The 5×5 Method] is one of the neatest GMing tools I’ve seen recently — it needs to be turned into a PDF and shared as widely as possible.

–Martin Rayla of Gnome Stew

For insights and advice on roleplaying with Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, I always turn to the ENnie Awards-nominated web site Critical Hits. They know what makes it fun to play. But they also know the game and where to find stuff to make it even better.

–David of Purple Pawn

Critical Hits consistently puts out truly original articles on familiar subjects. They open and continue a dialog with their readers. The site also has enough vitamin C to fight off even the toughest cases of scurvy!

–Nicholas of Dungeonmastering

Critical Hits has been pretty much my go-to website for any RPG-related news which has a crew of writers that have good connections with the industry. These are the guys that I look up to in regards to gaming journalism and they have also produced some indepth analysis especially in the 4E mechanics.

—Questing GM

I’m not quite sure why, but ever since I got home from Gen Con, the guys from Critical Hits and the Chinese Olympic Swimming Team have been haunting my dreams.

–Vanir of Stupid Ranger

I just updated the post with a testimonial that I cannot BELIEVE I left out the first time around. I’m glad e reminded me!

Sucilaria: Just as long as he’s not talking about me in his dreams…

    Mike: Thanks man!

Before discovering critical hits I was an alcoholic hit man for the cultists of Great Cthulhu. Now, I’m still an alcoholic hit man for the cultists of Great Cthulhu, but critical hits fills me with hope in the works of man, and may be the tipping point in my decision to foil their plans for the great awakening.
