Inq. of the Week: Science Fiction/Fantasy Fall Shows

September 17, 2007 by Dave

Katee Sackhoff in Bionic WomanWill the Playstation 3 make a come back? Survey says… no. The 360 and the Wii seem to have no sign of slowing down, and the PS3 is just too far behind to make a come back. Sony is still a big company with plenty of capital behind it, so I’d be surprised if the PS3 folded and didn’t continue to just chug along (similar to what the Gamecube did.) Then, in the inevitable next wave of consoles, maybe the PS3 will learn a few lessons…

As I write this, the Emmy’s are wrapped up and telling us what and who was good in the last season of TV. But that’s in the past now! The new season of TV has already begun. Perhaps inspired by the success of Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, and Lost of the last season (not to mention all the many great shows throughout the years), a new crop of “higher concept” Science Fiction and Fantasy shows are about to hit the air. If every other new season is any indication, they won’t all last. Before they come out, which of these shows has done a good job of convincing you to watch a few episodes?

Wow, it looks like Starbuck follows the Spiderman School 3 school of evil: slicked emo hair and eyeshadow equals VILLIAN. Anyway, here’s a link that breaks down the new fall lineup a bit…

Here’s some of the trailers too:

But please vote before you’ve checked out more info… I’d like to see which of these has succeeded in their marketing and hype.

From what I’ve seen Bionic Woman is way too light on the marketing, and Journeyman looks very cool initially from the stuff they’re showing.

I remember thinking Lost looked silly and that they seemed to be banking on Dominic “He was in Lord of the Rings” Monaghan to sell the show, even though is really a top string secondary character. Then Becky’s parents had been watching it for a few weeks and told us about it, so we caught up online and then we became hooked!

I haven’t heard of any of these. I hope at least one of them is good, I need a new SF&F show to obsess over.
