I predict there being a new expensive rare hitting the Dungeons & Dragons miniatures market. In the latest “Previews” column on Wizard’s site, they showcase the number one most requested mini for D&D: a Gelatinous Cube. Further clarification by one of the D&D designers, Scott Rouse, says:
“I don’t think the picture does it justice.
First the cube comes completely off the base so you can put a medium mini inside.
Second the cube has a slightly iridescent coating on it to give it a bit of oozey shimmer.
We spent a long time trying to make this work. We tried a lot of different materials and it was very hard to get one that was durable, safe, “moldable”, and that look good.
I think you’ll like it.”
It may have taken a while, but the wait is worth it. I might have to buy more of this next DDM set than I was expecting to just to get one. But the question is: how will the new set work, being between two editions of rules?
Hit the jump for the Cube in all its glory. (Thanks, EnWorld)

They totally need to make a colossal gelatenous cube mini, that you can put the huge dragons inside!
Phil says
Quite possibly my favorite D&D monster ever.
The concept of putting another creature is brilliant! Yup this one will probably supplant my Umber Hulk as favorite miniature…. Gotta have it!
Bartoneus says
What about…an Umberhulk riding a Bullette?!!?!
The Game says
It’d be way too overpowered.

How ’bout that picture guys? That’s a comboo I have no wish to face…

The Game says
Yeah, a Mind Flayer riding a Beholder is pretty intimidating… but can it BURROW? I didn’t think so.
(here’s our old picture, by the way)
