Critical Hits

The Journal of Gamer Culture

Comic's most enduring character comes to TV

Did I say enduring? I meant most made fun of. It’s been pulled from YouTube and the official site, but you can still find the Aquaman trailer online. The full pilot may be out there somewhere, if it was leaked. The status of the show is still in limbo: CW originally passed on it, but now may be rethinking things. We’ll see… as Warren Ellis says, “How many crimes can there be underwater?”

Most of the Critical Hits staff will be at Balticon this weekend waiting in line to get Neil Gaiman to autograph something. We’ll be back after Memorial Day.

A Mystery of the Universe Revealed!

Yes, we finally have a scientific answer to that age-old question, what is the average airspeed velocity of an unlaiden swallow?

The article is actually rather old, having been created in 2003, but it is still an excellent scientific jaunt into the world of avian airspeeds.

For those not wanting to read the article, swallows (both the African and European varieties) have surprisingly efficent flight dynamics meaning they, on average, go about 11 meters a second or about 24 miles an hour, unlaiden.

Take THAT, Bridgekeeper/Old Man From Scene 24!

Finally.. New Justice League

A new episode of JLU aired the other night called “Flash and Substance” which seems to feature Flash’s rogue gallery. It also has a more of Flash as Wally West, which we really haven’t seen from the series. Not since maybe Starcrossed.
Either way, it’s worth checking out! So go and DL! Since there’s only a few new ones left.

Lost is the best show on television. Ever. No arguing. Shut up!

As recent, empirical, all-encompassing, and many other large-worded descriptors data proves, Lost is by far the best television show ever. As we all know quite well, I-tunes is basically a social barometer for everything that’s ever existed. [Read the rest of this article]
