Nerd Songs Roundup
While I am constantly hunting for new indie music since I have some sort of musical equivalent of ADHD, I have found that I am able to satisfy my hunger by relying upon old classics and familiar songs mashed up in new ways.
What’s that all mean? I’ve found a bunch of albums on the internet involving nerdy stuff remixed in hilarious ways.

Move Your Dead Bones
It has come to my attention that some people still haven’t seen the One Thing that the Internet Was Destined To Spread. For those of you who haven’t yet seen it, here it is: The music video to the third Reanimator movie, starring Jeffery Combs (who also voices the Question on JLU).
Enjoy! But beware… it’s astonishingly addictive!

More Sony Shennanigans
Oh, the fun just doesn’t stop with the Sony Corporation these days! An update on the Sony rootkit copy protection, regarding the offical uninstall proceedure as provided by Sony as told by the guy who was the originial discoverer of this wonderful corporate ‘fuck you!’:
“Without exaggeration I can say that I’ve analyzed virulent forms of spyware/adware that provide more straightforward means of uninstall.”
Sony's Comedy of Errors
“If you think things can’t get worse it’s probably only because you lack sufficient imagination.”
Oh, the Sony mess just keeps getting better and better. Not only does the DRM check up on you to make sure you’re making nice through the use of a Rootkit. Not only can the Sony DRM be used to cheat at World of Warcraft. Now the Sony DRM boondoggle has been discovered to phone home!
Virus Music – Sony Gets Down With the Sickness
So. Sony has gone to using rootkits as a method of providing Digital Restrictions Management.
For those who aren’t aware, here’s a quick rundown on what a rootkit and what DRM is: A root kit is a set of tools used by an intruder after cracking a computer system. These tools can help the attacker maintain his or her access to the system and use it for malicious purposes. In other words, they change the underlining OS so that it works against you, rather than for you.
DRM (short for Digital “Rights” Management a.k.a. Digital Restrictions Management) is the name applied to malware that stops you, the user, from doing what you want with the data you’ve bought and paid for. Typically, DRM is employed by paranoid pointy-haired bosses in the entertainment industry who are terrified that you might not have to pay their exorbitant prices for terrible content. Even worse, you might be able to change your media without having to fork over money to do so! The Horror!!
You Could Have It So Much Better – Franz Ferdinand
Sometime around April of 2004 I began to find delight in listening to the radio again. Where once my ears were assaulted by racking vibrations, which ate away at your ear’s inner workings, there now was the occasional trumpeting of angels. Perhaps the real events were only slightly akin to those described above. One of the contributing artists to this occurance was these guys. With their debut album, Franz Ferdinand made their mark on 2004 with a fresh, yet very remiscent of passed times sound that delighted many a listener. Only about a year and a half later the band has released a second album in a short but not overly quick amount of time.
‘You Could Have It So Much Better’ comes off as very bland with the first listen, containing a much lower percentage of rump-shaking funk beats then the first album, yet their style and skill are not lost. Upon repeat listening, the more subtle variations of the tracks become more apparent. With a few of the songs varying from what can be named the ‘Franz’ sound, the cd definitely picks up dramatically toward the middle and later tracks as the entire range of experimentation is presented. Never to stray too far from what they know, the band has begun to widen their range of songs from funk to classic in providing a very ecclectic yet consistent and coherent whole.
While not presenting excellent material, this new cd seems to present a better variation in music then the first, it just happens that the type of music from their debut album is exactly the kind of music that I love. The band members certainly continue to display their talents, with very enjoyable guitar and drums performances, the lead singer displays extreme aptitude for making repetition and almost chantish lyrics enjoyable and pleasant to listen to. The primary issue with this album would be that many of the songs are shorter then they often seem to be, but the better tracks are well placed throughout the work so that it becomes an enjoyable cd to listen to the entire way through without the need to skip certain songs.

October: What I'm looking forward to
In Comics: Infinite Crisis. I’m a total DC whore, and they’ve totally hooked me with all the lead in stuff, even if it varies drastically in quality. It’ll be good to see where it all has been heading, especially when they’ve got writers I enjoy like Judd Winnick and Geoff Johns onboard, but mostly looking forward to the direction put in by Grant Morrison… [Read the rest of this article]
