Super Mario Commie

Soviet Mario It’s Super Mario, it’s epic, and it’s Soviet.

No, it’s not a newly announced Wii game, it’s just a kickass flash animation.

OSU & GAMA want YOUR nerdish opinions

Head over to www.gamesurvey.org if you have a few minutes. It’s the first non-marketing, non-D&D is evil survey to be conducted about gamers, and they could use your input. There’s also more explanation on BGG.

Play DuckHunt on MySpace on InterNet

It may not be legal, but you can play a whole bunch of NES games in your browser using Java. It also gives you the code to post the games in your blog or whatnot. I could already play NES games on my cell phone but it looks like they’ve got a whole bunch of weirdass ROMS on there.

Super Mario Bros 14 anyone?

A Mystery of the Universe Revealed!

Yes, we finally have a scientific answer to that age-old question, what is the average airspeed velocity of an unlaiden swallow?

The article is actually rather old, having been created in 2003, but it is still an excellent scientific jaunt into the world of avian airspeeds.

For those not wanting to read the article, swallows (both the African and European varieties) have surprisingly efficent flight dynamics meaning they, on average, go about 11 meters a second or about 24 miles an hour, unlaiden.

Take THAT, Bridgekeeper/Old Man From Scene 24!

Chuck Norris visits Cyrodiil (Oblivion)

Chuck Norris in Elder Scrolls IV

I know we are a bit inundated with Oblivion stuff, but this is hilarious.

What is GATO?

GATO is a loveable cat-like robot. Formerly a carnival attraction at the Millenium Fair, after the world was saved he lost interest in fighting with a mechanical boxing glove. Now, he processing Geeky RSS feeds from all over the internet and reposts them here. GATO is able to do this via a WordPress Blog, RSS technology, and FeedWordPress.

Basically, GATO takes new posts (advertised to the world via RSS) from sites that he likes to visit, and puts them on his page, so instead of having to go to all these different sites to see what’s new, you only have to look at GATO. Then if you find anything interesting, you click on the post to go to the site that created it.GATO has many different interests, and doesn’t make any distinction over what is interesting or not. He just posts it for you to decide what looks cool or not. He also posts them as he receives them, so some sites have more than others.GATO isn’t very creative, so he doesn’t make any new content, nor does he claim to. (He is one heck of a singer/songwriter, however.)

All the posts are the property of the site that originally posted them. If you’re one of the sites that GATO takes from, he isn’t stealing from you… he’s just using your own RSS feed, and if you don’t like that, maybe you shouldn’t have an RSS feed…

GATO also posts new entries on Critical Hits, both full posts and comments, since we are giving him a home.

"Bitch, get in the kitchen and bake me a pie!"

Check out this wonderful list of “Wifely Expectations” from a guy in Iowa who kidnapped his wife.

My personal favorite bits here is the part at the end stating that “this is not a contract”, despite requiring the signature of his wife and the requirement regarding taking naughty photos of “sets no less than five”. There’s even a 20 picture quota for the month!

Hilarity. And you just KNOW someone’s going to read this and think it’s a great idea. I can’t wait until there are court cases involving sex contracts.

More bitching about WoW (and other MMORPGS)

We must be edgy. We used “bitch” in two post titles today alone.

Anyway, Ralph Koster, an executive in the MMORPG industry, posted a hilarious list of things that can be learned from MMORPGs.

“Intelligent beings who have civilizations and languages of their own are generally evil and should be slain.”
