YouTube of the Week: Super Hot Dog Eater Level 3 Edition
The best Saturday TV Funhouse I’ve seen in a long time. A parody of Dragonball Z starring the world champion hot dog eater, Kobayashi. Hilarious subbing on top of a great concept.
Neon Genesis Evangelion OVA?
According to ICV2, Gainax is in the works to produce four movies to completely retell the Evangelion story, but in a much simpler way. The move is designed to make the acclaimed series more “accessible” to new viewers (and presumably, viewers who were totally bewildered the first time around.)
From the Article: “This “remake” will feature all new animation and will eschew some of the more esoteric techniques used in the original series such as the interspersing and scattering of difficult words and text phrases in the animation.”
No more crazy crayon animations, I guess.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Back in 1997 Square released Final Fantasy VII for the original Playstation which was not only the first of the series to be rendered using 3d graphics, but it was also the first to leave the sumptuous womb of Nintendo consoles. It quickly became many players’ favorite of all Final Fantasies, and as with almost every game that people love there has been a huge demand for a sequel. In a rather risky decision Square decided to make the first follow up to the game in 9 years to be a feature-length computer animated movie. [Read the rest of this article]
Critical Hit Gift Guide 2005
Want to score a “Critical Hit” this Holiday season? (Ha, it works on so many levels! What a whimsical site title!) Here’s a holiday gift guide made by the staff.
To the writers: post as a comment to this what you would recommend as a good holiday gift, price range, and where to get it. (You can also use this as a place to post things that you want to receive, and then send your relatives to look at this post. Genius.)
The end of Destiny
So I just finished burning the last 15 episodes of Gundam SEED: Destiny to DVD and removing them from my harddrive. :sniff: It was a hard task to do, but.. now there is room for SkyOne’s Hex. So the news isn’t all bad.
But yes, Destiny is over now. And I’ve yet to hear anything conclusive about a follow up SEED series, which leaves me a little emptier on the inside. Granted, I still have the Region 1 Destiny DVD’s to collect as they come out over the next year. But it just makes me a little sad to think that there may be no more SEED stories.
Will they go back to U.C.? Attempt more “Alternate Realities”? Who knows, and I don’t speak/read Japanese so I can’t troll news sites for any info. Alas I must wait, and toil away my life for some glimmer of hope that new Gundam SEED will be heading my way.. sometime down the road.
Maybe I should do a review of SEED for this here site.. at some point O.o;
