[...] First of all, as I’ve mentioned before, reskinning is your friend. Adding a black powder touch to a monster doesn’t have to be harder than describing them with muskets instead of javelins. Reskinning, however, can only take you so far, here are some original monsters, with stats, that should be usable in any setting or part of setting where black powder is prevalent. These monsters are mainly intelligent humanoids, I’ve avoided the Black Powder Golem or Black Powder Dragon or the like on the basis that I think black powder should be all about people shooting stuff with guns (and perhaps blowing stuff up).
Dave: Yea, those are pretty much the best examples of RoC music

SnakeNuts: I imagine a lot of DMs put explosives into their games, but perhaps weren't fully aware of why players seem to enjoy it so much. Hopefully I've brought a bit more light to the concept. :)

Kaeosdad: Glad to hear it!

Phil: Thanks, it's always a pleasure to develop ideas with you!

Hey man, thanks for all the credit. I'm honored.

I always liked explosives in games. They are a powerful narrative control element. When players get the option to blow off a chuck of your campaign world, they really feel like what they do has an effect in the story.

The trick is to not let this go out of hand or make it so mundane that players always fall back on it.

Good post man!

Dammit, I started getting sucked into TV Tropes again because of this post.

I love the music section of the Rule of Cool entry though: Lemon Demon's Ultimate Showdown, Muse's Knights of Cydonia, and Dragon Force.
