This in XBox live would be awesome.

On my PC = Just me playing.

On Xbox live = Wife playing too. Maybe even the kids. Then she doesn't bug me to stop playing.

D&D with people online over XBox live. That is pure genius.

HM. Damn. This is pretty much the app I had wanted to create, but never had the motivation to. Lots of idea stealing going in there. I wonder if it does anything with DX 10.

I believe some of the pretty useful features will be free. I know the mapper will be free if I'm not mistaken, and that's what I'm waiting for. If you're going to be doing some serious role playing on a regular basis the fees aren't TOO bad, but it would be nice to see a software package developed and sold for a one time payment. We'll see how it works out once they release the rest of it as a beta or something.

DMJBone: I'll have to go back and look at exactly the price points they're talking about, but I believe DDI as a whole will be really good for the price considering Dungeon/Dragon magazines, the rules compendium, and character creation / DM tools that will hopefully be updated with new content regularly. I believe the cheapest price point for everything is $10 a month, which is cheaper than two monthly magazines anyway.

I'm curious if you're familiar with Fantasy Grounds VT (www.fantasygrounds.com). It has pretty much all the same features minus "3d" minis. It's a one time fee program.

I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the ridiculous monthly fee WOTC wants to charge for these programs, which at best I think should be free and at worst be a one time fee.

The screenshots and the limited walk through they gave you look promising. I hope they get this all wrapped up soon.

Jeff: I agree that we shouldn't get too excited until we at least see it come out in beta form, but I'll tell you from what we saw (and the pictures) that it is very cool and has a ton of potential.

I continue with the same thought I've had of DDI since it was announced (and the same assumption I had when Gleemax was announced as the new social network for gamers). I'll believe it when I see it, but I wish them the best.

Jeff Greiner's last post: <a href="http://thetome.podbean.com/2008/08/14/the-tome-ep-78-2008-summer-contest/" rel="nofollow">The Tome Ep 78: 2008 Summer Contest</a>

I have been role-playing with skype in a successful but clumsy way - this is exactly the sort of thing I have been looking for to make my role-playing operate more smoothly. Why oh why isn't it available!?
