Random Thoughts: Gen Con, Job Posting for ZeStuff, Mearls joins network!
I’m off to Gen Con.
I just finished packing my suitcases and I’m done doing all the prep work for my games, seminars and other fun stuff.
I don’t plan to live blog because I’m already so overbooked that I fear I won’t enjoy Gen Con as much as I should. Between DMing 13 hours for Paizo, my own game of Drunken D&D, my 2 hour Mastering your GM-FU Seminar, the RPGbloggers unite panel, Stupid Ranger’s Out of the Box D&D game (I’m playing Gloom Darkendusk, Halfing Cleric of Cheerfulness!), a White Wolf party and DNAPhil’s Iron Heroes game, I’m not sure I’ll make it out alive!
For those looking for me at Gen Con, I look like this (I’m the guy in the Hawaiian shirt, not the R2D2 mailbox) and I’ll be wearing my Chatty DM cartoon in my Gen Con Badge.
When I return, I plan to post my thoughts on the Pathfinder Society organized play, the Ascension of the Drow 126 player adventure, Drunken D&D as well as any cool encounters I make during my stay.

Quick suggestion as an alternative to non-blogging: write notes (as in, with pen and notepad, pure retro!) then scan ‘em and post up when you get back.

Good idea… although I’m a terrible note taker.. and I lose papers all the time (all my Gen Con documents are in a 3 ring binder)

Are we sure that’s really Mike Mearls? I mean, the name is there of course, but (a) Mike already has a perfectly good, highly gaming-focused Livejournal account, and (b) the first and only post, on wandering monsters, is…how shall I put this…well, it’s got its heart in the right place, but declaring you never understood why Gygax used wandering monsters is kind of naive for someone who ought to be plugged into a wealth of knowledge on D&D history and RPG craft.

I always carry a camera and notepad to Gen Con. I usually spend at least one day taking pictures, asking questions and taking notes. I may not use 95% of it, but it does help give me ideas to write about and it definitely helped last year when 4e was announced.
