Mike Mearl's D&D 4e Elemental Evil Campaign

Recently Mike Mearls invited people to follow his 1st ‘for fun’ D&D 4e campaign.

It’s very loosely based on Gary’s Temple of Elemental Evil, it gives a very good feel of what 4e will be about and it’s all played in one hour sessions.

I don’t think reading this will change anyone’s idea on 4e (playing it will, most likely), but it’s cool to get a glimpse of some of the non previewed stuff.

After reading this, it became clear to me the D&D 4e will make a DM’s life a lot easier and allow them to actually build stronger stories and Narrative… Heck he has 2 sessions (albeit, still one hour long) without fighting.

I’m also impressed to see how a complex fight can fit in one hour.

Follow it here and his behind the scenes DM stuff here.

The Chatty DM is the "nom de plume" of gamer geek Philippe-Antoine Menard. He has been GMing various versions of D&D and other RPGs for nearly 30 years. A renowned RPG blogger, game designer and published author, he squats a corner of Critical Hits he affectionately calls "Musings of the Chatty DM." (Email Phil or follow him on Twitter.)

Thanks for the heads up, Chatty. Even after the 4e novelty effect wears off I’m sure we’ll find nuggets in his game log. He probably knows the game and its mechanics as well as anyone…
